TRUSTPV: A 4-year research project with over 12 million euro in grant value from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, TRUSTPV will improve the performance and reliability of solar power plants. To do so, the project will support the development of O&M-friendly and grid-friendly solar PV components and solutions in large portfolios of distributed and utility scale PV. The TRUSTPV innovations will be tested and demonstrated from fab to field, with all data gathered along the value chain flowing into a decision support system platform that uses AI and is based on and beyond Industry 4.0 concepts. The project is industrially driven, gathering 20 organisations from across the entire solar PV value chain.

TRUSTPV Proudly powered by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.

Entering a new era for solar photovoltaics as an intelligent and flexible grid entity of providing both clean energy and grid support services (Solar 3.0 concepts), increases the potential of the technology but at the same time renders enormous challenges. The experience and fusion of expertise gained through our participation to the TRUST-PV project provides the necessary blend for strengthening FOSS research in new smart domains that the PV sector is entering. To this end, the demonstration of an innovative high performing and flexible commercial scale PV power plant is invaluable for Cyprus, which is an islanded system that is expected to have high shares of PV in the future.
- Dr George Makrides, FOSS
TRUST-PV will allow BayWa r.e. to act as the bridge between the development phases and the proof of concept, going all the way until economic assessment and commercial deployment of innovative solutions in the O&M sector, such as the progressive repowering of aged PV plant.
- Guillermo Oviedo Hernandez, R&D Specialist at BayWa
IMEC is looking forward to leapfrogging several innovations in module materials, technology and PV system yield and reliability modelling into next generation products. In TRUST-PV, we will validate and further develop these innovations with direct feedback from industry leaders from the entire PV system value chain.
- Eszter Voroshazi, R&D manager of PV activities at IMEC
The increase in the performance and reliability of PV components and systems have always been in our roadmap for the past 15 years. In the previous H2020 project, Solar Bankability, we established methodologies to create a Risk Framework in PV projects. At the same time we realised that a proper implementation could only happened through harmonised data collection, the involvement of all the stakeholders along the value chain, and the digitalisation of the PV sector. TRUST-PV represents for us the solution to all of this and more!
- David Moser, Research Group Leader, at EURAC Research
TRUST-PV is a project of scientific excellence recognised by Horizon 2020. Therefore, it aims at excellence in the practices of the PV sector. This project confirms Reuniwatt's position as a European SME Champion. It is a unique opportunity for us to design innovative and efficient O&M practices with leading partners while exploiting Reuniwatt's expertise in solar radiation. Thus, we will demonstrate the quality of our innovative services and the benefits they bring to all stakeholders.
- Marion Lafuma, Business Development Manager at Reuniwatt
TRUST-PV is a strategic collaborative project for 3E supporting the continuous improvement and ensuring the excellence of 3E's Solar Data Analytics for performance monitoring intelligence of solar PV plants
- Mauricio Richter, Head of Innovation at 3E
Raptech has been working in the Renewable Energy market for the past 15 years, offering ICT support for photovoltaic systems. We have experienced the growing importance of the technological infrastructure to increase the performance and the reliability of PC systems. We are very excited to have the opportunity to apply the state of the art of wireless sensor technology (5G and Narrow Band IoT) to the photovoltaic, within TRUST-PV project, and have a glimpse of the great possibilities that these technologies can offer in the future.
- Marco Berliocchi, CEO at Raptech
